Dodgers Rumors: 2024 MLB Draft Picks Kole Myers & Seamus Barrett Signed

The Los Angeles Dodgers selected 18 players in the 2024 MLB Draft, which was held over a three-day span during All-Star Week in Texas.

After selecting Kellon Lindsey with the No. 23 overall pick, the Dodgers added drafted players on Day 2. Among them were Kole Myers and Seamus Barrett, who were taken in rounds 9 and 10, respectively.

According to Carlos Collazo of Baseball America, the Dodgers were able to sign Myers and Barrett for well below slot value:

The 280th and 310th overall picks came with respective slot values of $188,000 and $179,000, which gives the Dodgers plenty of savings to use on other selections.

Myers is an outfielder out of Troy University who hit .323/.487/.570 with 81 runs scored, 72 hits and 44 RBI in 59 games during his senior year.

He led the Sun Belt Conference in stolen bases (34), walks (62) and triples (four), and was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team in 2024. Myers’ 62 walks also ranked third nationally and were the second most in a single season in Troy history.

Barrett is a right-handed pitcher out of Loyola Marymount University who posted a 2-4 record with a 4.78 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 25 games (seven starts) this year.

Prior to transferring to LMU, Barrett spent his first two seasons at the University of Louisville, where he was teammates with Dodgers top prospect Dalton Rushing.

Dodgers’ Draft pick plans to sign

Having secured commitments from Myers and Barrett, the Dodgers appear likely to sign their top draft pick as well.

Lindsey is verbally committed to attend the University of Florida but recently said that he plans to forego college in order to begin his professional career with the Dodgers.
