Kiké Hernández Bobblehead Night Sets 2024 Dodgers Attendance Record

The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered a blowout loss to the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, which snapped a five-game winning streak and took some of the excitement out of Kiké Hernández bobblehead night at Dodger Stadium.

It was among the nine remaining Dodgers bobblehead giveaways planned for the remainder of the 2024 season. The stretch culminates with Clayton Kershaw bobblehead night on Wednesday, Sept. 25 in what’s also the team’s second-to-last home game of the year.

Hernández went 0-for-4 with one strikeout in the Dodgers’ 8-3 loss. They were held hitless by Robbie Ray over five innings and didn’t collect their first hit until Chris Taylor’s double with two outs in the seventh.

Taylor represented the tying run at the time but immediately needed to come out of the game due to left groin tightness that likely is going to force him to the 10-day injured list.

Although Hernández didn’t make an impact at the plate, there’s been recent improvement in what otherwise can be described as a struggling season. He recently made MLB history with the timing of clutch hits and scoring the game-winning run against the Boston Red Sox.

Hernández also is among the Dodgers players to reach the milestone of 10 years of Major League service time this season.

Dodgers attendance breaks 2024 MLB record

Dodgers attendance at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night was 54,070, which represented their 12th sellout of the season. It also was good for not only the largest crowd for a Dodgers game this year, but the MLB high in 2024.

That record previously belonged to the Dodgers as well, with an attendance of 53,527 for Shohei Ohtani’s bobblehead night on May 16.

Dodgers attendance reached a high mark in 2023 for the Freeway Series finale with an announced crowd of 53,057. Festivities included Los Angeles Lakers forward Rui Hachimura throwing out the ceremonial first pitch for Japanese Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium.

During the 2022 season, the Dodgers set that year’s MLB record for largest crowd with 53,302 announced attendance on Freddie Freeman bobblehead night at Dodger Stadium.
