MLB On Apple TV+ Schedule Includes Dodgers On Jackie Robinson Day, Plus Game Vs. Guardians

Apple and MLB announced the first half of the 2022 “Friday Night Baseball” schedule for Apple TV+, which includes the Los Angeles Dodgers facing the Cincinnati Reds on Jackie Robinson Day.

The schedule begins on April 8 with the Washington Nationals hosting the New York Mets and the L.A. Angels facing the Houston Astros.

MLB is commemorating Jackie Robinson Day on April 15, marking the 75th anniversary of the Hall of Famer’s historic Major League debut. On that night, “Friday Night Baseball” will feature the Dodgers, the only team Robinson played for, as they face last season’s National League Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year winner Jonathan India and the Reds at Dodger Stadium.

Jackie Robinson Day coverage on Apple TV+ will also include reigning American League Rookie of the Year Randy Arozarena and the Tampa Bay Rays visiting All-Star shortstop Tim Anderson and the Chicago White Sox.

The Dodgers will also be featured on Apple TV’s coverage on June 17 when they host the Cleveland Guardians.

The scheduled games account for the first 12 weeks of the season and are available to anyone with internet access only on Apple TV+. The Friday night games will be free from local broadcast restrictions, but fans will not be able to watch designated streams via team broadcasts or an MLB.TV subscription.

Access to the service will initially begin without the need for a subscription, but fans will eventually need to subscribe to Apple TV+ to continue watching, making it a potential fourth service needed to watch games, along with MLB TV, a live TV service, and YouTube.

Apple TV is available on all Apple devices, as well as online. The app is also available on Amazon Fire TV, Roku devices, Chromecast with Google TV, select smart TVs, gaming consoles, and some set-top cable and satellite boxes.
