Miguel Vargas has taken on an everyday role with the Los Angeles Dodgers this season, leading to new opportunities both on and off the field.

The 23-year-old partnered with New Era Cap, which recently celebrated the first-ever 59FIFTY Day. The company, which originated in 1920, is the exclusive on-field cap of MLB.

Vargas helped promote the special occasion on Instagram by wearing a Brooklyn Dodgers hat and was honored to be part of the marketing campaign, via SportsNet LA:

“It’s a great opportunity for me. There’s not that many Cuban guys doing that, and I’m pretty excited.”

Vargas appreciated being the Dodgers’ representative for the campaign and did not take the opportunity for granted. The rookie infielder is in the midst of his first full MLB season and has improved after a slow start to the 2023 season.

Along with improvement at the plate, Vargas has continued to play a steady second base as he essentially learns the position on the fly.

Miguel Vargas feeling healthy & more confident with swing

Vargas, who homered in two consecutive games against the Milwaukee Brewers, noted he is starting to find his groove after being hit on the hand twice earlier this season.

“I feel great. I’m just trying to compete every day,” Vargas said last week. “Baseball, it is what it is. I feel great right now, comfortable.”

In addition to feeling healthier, Vargas credited his work with the Dodgers hitting coaches for his improvement at the plate. “Just the little bit of adjustments we made,” he added. “Obviously, we have to work. We don’t just get good. I try to compete every day, is my plan every time.”
