The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of Neftalí Féliz and optioned Andrew Vasquez to Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of Monday’s series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Féliz is back up with the Dodgers for a second time, having previously been added to the active roster on Aug. 16. He only appeared in one game prior to being designated for assignment eight days later as a corresponding roster move to activating Julio Urias off the 10-day injured list.

Féliz cleared waivers and was sent outright to Oklahoma City. He’s 2-1 with a 2.66 ERA in 16 games (one start) for OKC.

The 33-year-old signed a Minor League contract with the Dodgers during the first week of July. He made one appearance for the Philadelphia Phillies prior to being outrighted and joining L.A.

Vasquez heads to Oklahoma City for the first time since being acquired in a trade that sent Stevie Berman to the Minnesota Twins.

Vasquez made his Dodgers debut in extra innings against the San Francisco Giants last Friday, and also appeared in the series finale. He threw a combined 1.2 innings, allowed one unearned run and collected three strikeouts.

Vasquez was selected out of Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., by the Kansas City Royals in the 44th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. However, he elected to attend college and was later taken by the Twins in the 32nd round of the 2015 Draft.

The left-hander made his MLB debut with the Twins during the 2018 season, appearing in nine games. Vasquez went 4-0 with a 3.61 ERA over 33 games for Triple-A St. Paul this year, but command remained an issue.

Dodgers probables for Cardinals series

After Max Scherzer starting the series opener at Busch Stadium, the Dodgers have question marks for the ensuing three games.

They anticipate using an opener and Mitch White filling a bulk role on Tuesday, but Wednesday’s pitching plans aren’t finalized, and Julio Urias is somewhat of a question mark to start the series finale on regular rest.
