ESPN announced its first round of Sunday Night Baseball game selections for the 2023 season, including a matchup between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on June 4.
The Yankees and Dodgers own a rich history that includes 11 World Series meetings, but they haven’t faced each other since August 23–25, 2019, when New York took two of three games at Dodger Stadium.
The upcoming matchup was made possible by the MLB making significant changes to the schedule in 2023. For the first time in modern history, every team will play each other as part of a balanced schedule format.
All-in-all, ESPN will exclusively televise 25 Sunday Night Baseball games during the 2023 season, plus five additional contests that will be revealed within two weeks of the date.
The 2023 season marks the 34th consecutive year of Sunday Night Baseball, which is set to feature many of the biggest stars in the game. The slate begins on April 2 as the defending National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies visit the Texas Rangers.
Karl Ravech returns as the play-by-play announcer for a second straight season and be joined by analysts David Cone and Eduardo Perez. The trio will be accompanied by senior MLB Insider Buster Olney, who enters his 13th season as the Sunday Night Baseball reporter.
Furthermore, the KayRod cast starring Alex Rodriguez and New York sports voice Michael Kay will return for a second consecutive season. ESPN’s innovative alternate presentation for Sunday Night Baseball will once again air on ESPN 2, with eight editions planned for the 2023 season.
Jon “Boog” Sciambi and analyst Doug Glanville will also return for their second season together as the national radio voices of Sunday Night Baseball. Like always, ESPN Radio will carry every Sunday Night Baseball game.
Sunday Night Baseball will continue being available in Spanish on ESPN Deportes as well, with the team of Ernesto Jerez, Luis Alfredo Álvarez, Guillermo Celis and Enrique Rojas providing commentary and analysis.
Baseball Tonight: Sunday Night Countdown will precede Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN with one-hour pregame shows at 3 p.m. PT every week. All Sunday Night Baseball games and shows will be available to stream via the ESPN App.
