Will Smith is entering his sixth season with the Los Angeles Dodgers and one month into the 2024 schedule, he and his wife Cara Smith are set to host a comedy event for charity.
On May 8 at 7 p.m. PT at The Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, the Smiths are presenting “Dodgers Comedy Night” as part of the Netflix is a Joke Fest from May 2-12.
Hosted by Cedric The Entertainer, all proceeds will go to Catching Hope, Smith’s Foundation which works to help at-risk low-income youths in transition with critical skills needed for leadership, self-advocacy, and self-sufficiency.
Tickets for the event are still available, ranging from $45 for standard seating, with official platinum options starting at $185.
Guests can expect a night of comedy with Smith and his Dodgers teammates, while fans will also enjoy a bevy of giveaways.
For Smith, participating in a comedy show is going to take him out of his comfort zone. Last year, he joked about that in a promotional commercial for his bobblehead night based on Dodgers manager Dave Roberts’ comments during a postgame interview.
“No, he’s not funny at all,” Roberts said when asked about Smith’s personality away from the cameras.
The show was rescheduled to May 8, 2024, and guests who purchased tickets to the first announced date at the Hollywood Palladium will have them relocated to The Orpheum.
Among other celebrities participating in Netflix is a Joke include seven-time Super Bowl Champion quarterback Tom Brady, actor and comedian Bill Burr, television host David Letterman and more. Actor Chris Rock will also be among the participants, and he is surely hopeful to have a better experience being around a Will Smith this time.
Every other year, Netflix gathers the biggest stand-up acts around the world in one city for a multi-day comedy show, making it the biggest comedy festival in North America.
Fans are able to experience a comedy marathon of more than 300 shows across 35+ venues as Netflix Is a Joke Fest once again returns to L.A. this spring.
Chris Taylor joins Will Smith in hosting charity event
Smith isn’t the only Dodgers’ player with an upcoming event.
On February 4, Chris Taylor and his wife Mary will be part of the “CT3 Foundation 2024 Charity Polar Plunge” in Manhattan Beach at 10 a.m. PT.
Hosted by Mario López as the emcee, Taylor will be joined by Dodgers teammates, celebrities and other special guests as they take a dip into the cold waters of Manhattan Beach.
There are tickets still available with single registration costing $200 with VIP tickets going for $1,000. Donations are also accepted.
Guests will enjoy access to numerous vendor booths and will receive a participant gift bag in addition to a finisher’s medal.
