Watch: Anze Kopitar & Children Attend Dodgers Game For L.A. Kings Night

The Los Angeles Dodgers once again honored the Los Angeles Kings at Dodger Stadium with Anze Kopitar and his family on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and start the game with “It’s time for Dodger baseball!”

The Dodgers annual Kings night took place on Aug. 21 against the Seattle Mariners with a special Dodgers-themed Kings jersey available for fans who purchased the special ticket package.

There was no better player to represent the Kings at Dodger Stadium than Kopitar, the Kings’ captain from Slovenia who has fully embraced the L.A. lifestyle since joining the team during the 2006-07 season.

Kopitar has long supported the Dodgers and can often be found wearing their iconic blue cap. He is arguably the most important player in Kings’ history, playing a key role in their first two Stanley Cup Championships.

It was Kopitar himself who threw out the first pitch while his children were in charge of starting the game with “It’s time for Dodger baseball!” He also took some questions from his kids on the way to the game.

The Dodgers went on to win the game 8-4 over the Seattle Mariners with Jack Flaherty picking up the win against Logan Gilbert. Max Muncy drove in three runs on two hits while Mookie Betts drove in a pair of runs as well.

Last year, the Dodgers hosted Kings night against the Toronto Blue Jays with Drew Doughty and Thousand Oaks native Trevor Moore on hand to watch the matchup and partake in the pregame festivities.

Although Doughty has been a lifelong Blue Jays fan after growing up in Canada, he has also continuously supported the Dodgers during his time with the Kings.

Moore has been a Dodgers fan — and a Kings fan — throughout his life.

Mookie Betts attended Kings game

The Kings also hold a Dodgers night every season, and this year, it was Mookie Betts who was on hand to represent with the ceremonial puck drop.

He joined a list of Dodgers to have that honor, including Tony Gonsolin, Jaime Jarrín, Chase Utley, Steve Yeager, Bill Russell, and Kiké Hernandez.

While Betts opened the game with the puck drop, Buehler helped get the fans cheering with starting and leading the “Go Kings Go!” chant by banging a drum.
