Mookie Betts, Walker Buehler & Will Ferrell Part Of L.A. Kings’ Dodgers Night

The Los Angeles Kings hosted their annual Los Angeles Dodgers night on Thursday, which featured Mookie Betts and Walker Buehler among those in attendance at Crypto.com Arena.

Betts was invited for the ceremonial puck drop that takes place before each game. He joined a list of Dodgers to have that honor, including Tony Gonsolin, Jaime Jarrín, Chase Utley, Steve Yeager, Bill Russell, and Kiké Hernandez.

While Betts opened the game with the puck drop, Buehler helped get the fans cheering with starting and leading the “Go Kings Go!” chant by banging a drum.

The chant was also started at one point by Will Ferrell via a prerecorded video played by the Kings. Ferrell was also at the game and sat next to Betts.

As the video was played, the cameras showed Ferrell jokingly yelling it at Betts to get him to say the chant as well. Betts did end up joining in with Ferrell and had a laugh about it when they were done.

Unfortunately, the cheers were not enough to help the Kings pull off a victory as they lost 4-3 to the Detroit Red Wings in a shootout, continuing their home struggles.

The Kings got off to a hot start with Adrian Kempe scoring his 13th goal of the season and Matt Roy picking up his first early in the game. However, the Red Wings came back to tie it in the second.

Detroit took the lead in the third, but Kempe tied it with his second goal of the game, which sent it to overtime. In the shootout, both Kempe and Trevor Moore had their attempts saved while the Red Wings scored on both their attempts to pick up the win.

Kings gave away special co-branded Dodgers jersey

As part of their Dodgers Night, the Kings gave away a co-branded Dodgers jersey to those who purchased the special ticket package.

The baseball jersey is a light blue color and features L.A. Kings text on the front with Dodgers as the name on the back and No. ’24 to signify the year. The sleeve also has the Kings’ primary logo.
