Trea Turner: Time For Dodgers To ‘Follow Suit’ After Rams Win Super Bowl LVI

The Los Angeles Rams mounted another fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in Super Bowl LVI and bring another trophy to the city.

Over the past 16 months, L.A. has been able to celebrate titles won by the Lakers, Dodgers and Rams. The Dodgers and Lakers winning championships in 2020 marked their first time combining to do so since the teams accomplished the same in 1988.

The Rams had the support of several Dodgers players and part-owner Magic Johnson during their playoff run. Trea Turner congratulated them after winning the NFC Championship and again following Super Bowl 56, along with mentioning the Dodgers must now win the World Series.

L.A. is among the 2022 World Series favorites, but when the team will get to take the field is unclear. The MLB lockout is ongoing and every indication is MLB and the Players Association (MLBPA) remain far apart on key economic issues.

For Turner, he will be entering a second season with the Dodgers and on track to reach free agency in the winter.

Turner was a spark for the Dodgers after being acquired with Max Scherzer at the trade deadline last year as he went on to win the National League batting title. Walker Buehler touted Turner for NL MVP, but he only finished in fifth place.

Whenever Spring Training and the regular season do begin, Turner figures to slide back over to his natural shortstop position that’s been vacated by Corey Seager signing with the Texas Rangers.

Kershaw supported Stafford, Rams

Dodgers free agent Clayton Kershaw was in attendance at SoFi Stadium to support Stafford, his childhood friend.

Kershaw has attended several of Stafford’s games over recent years, and the quarterback returned the favor last year when the left-hander was activated off the 60-day injured list.
