Dodgers Prospects Playing In 2024 All-Star Futures Game

Los Angeles Dodgers prospects Thayron Liranzo and Jeral Perez were named to the National League roster for the 2024 All-Star Futures Game on Saturday, July 13.

The 25th annual event is going to be followed by the all-new MLB Futures Skills Showcase. Both are being played at Globe Life Field, which is hosting the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game as well.

The 2024 Futures Game begins at 1 p.m. PT and will air exclusively on MLB Network with simulcasts available on MLB.tv, MLB.com and the MLB app. Melanie Newman (play-by-play), Mark DeRosa (analyst), Jonathan Mayo (analyst) and Sande Charles (reporter) are going to be on the call.

Former Dodgers All-Star Adrian Beltré, who enjoyed a successful career with the Texas Rangers, is managing the American League Futures Team. Michael Young, who briefly played for the Dodgers, is manager of the National League team.

Prince Fielder, Ian Kinsler, Nelson Cruz, Mark Teixeira, Elvis Andrus, Gary Matthews Jr., Francisco Cordero and Mitch Moreland are among the coaches involved with the All-Star Futures Game.

The 2024 All-Star Futures Game is scheduled for seven innings and keeps with the NL vs. AL format that was introduced in 2019, after 20 years of United States prospects facing international players. The NL now holds a 2-1-1 advantage under the current format.

Among the 54 players named to this year’s Futures Game, 48 participated in the inaugural Spring Breakout this past March. That included Liranzo, who is in his first season with the High-A Great Lakes Loons.

He’s among an impressive collection of Dodgers catching prospects that also consists of Diego Cartaya, Dalton Rushing and Yeiner Fernandez.

Perez made his professional debut in 2022 and has spent all of this year with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Liranzo and Perez join Corey Seager (2014), Julio Urías (2014), Yadier Álvarez (2017), Cartaya (2022) and Rushing (2023) as Dodgers prospects to play in the All-Star Futures Game despite not advancing past High-A at the time.

Overall, there have been a total of 28 Dodgers prospects named to the Futures Game.
