Dodgers Prospects Thayron Liranzo & Josue De Paula Shine In 2024 MLB Spring Breakout Game

Thayron Liranzo and Josue De Paula led a team of Los Angeles Dodgers prospects past Los Angeles Angels Minor Leaguers for an 8-1 win in their 2024 MLB Spring Breakout game.

De Paula broke up a scoreless tie in the third inning with an RBI single and two batters later Liranzo extended the Dodgers’ lead to 4-0.

Some within the Dodgers organization believe De Paula has the potential to be their best hitter among international prospects within the organization.

Liranzo spent all of last season with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, which marked his first time playing for a full-year affiliate since signing with the Dodgers in January 2021 out of the Dominican Republic.

Liranzo batted .272/.400/.562 with 24 doubles, 24 home runs and 70 RBI over 94 games with the Quakes.

After the Angels trimmed into their deficit, Kendall George got the run back with an RBI triple in the top of the fourth. George was drafted by the Dodgers in 2023, using their first pick — No. 36 overall — which came in competitive balance round A.

De Paula then added onto his big performance with base hit that brought in George to put the Dodgers up 5-1. Alex Freeland and Samuel Munoz each contributed with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to cap off the Dodgers’ scoring.

On the pitching front, Justin Wrobleski collected four strikeouts over two innings of a dominant start, even if it was a short outing. Jackson Ferris, acquired as part of an offseason trade with the Chicago Cubs, allowed the the Dodgers’ only run to the Angels but finished with three strikeouts over two innings.

MLB Pipeline ranked Ferris the No. 7 left-handed pitching prospect heading into the 2024 Minor League season.

Jarred Karros, son of former Dodgers All-Star Eric Karros, pitched two scoreless innings.
