The Los Angeles Dodgers will only play 60 regular-season games in 2020 due to Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred imposing a shortened schedule, but SportsNet LA will continue to provide unparalleled coverage.
Having already completed broadcasts of intrasquad games during Summer Camp at Dodger Stadium, SportsNet LA is now pivoting to their live game and programming schedule for the season. It begins Sunday, with SportsNet LA airing all three exhibition games.
After that, SportsNet LA will televise 56 regular-season games, with their first broadcast of the 2020 season coming Friday, July 24, when the Dodgers host the San Francisco Giants.
Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser are back in the broadcast booth, with Alanna Rizzo serving as field reporter. John Hartung will anchor coverage from SportsNet LA’s studio, along with analysts Nomar Garciaparra, Jerry Hairston Jr. and Ned Colletti.
Pepe Yñiguez and Dodgers icon Fernando Valenzuela will handle Spanish-language broadcasts for most games.
Throughout regular season, SportsNet LA’s coverage will begin one hour prior to every game with “Leadoff LA,” followed by “Access SportsNet: Dodgers.” Both shows will feature player interviews, team highlights and in-depth analysis.
“Access SportsNet: Dodgers” postgame coverage will include game highlights, postgame interviews and analysis.
However, due to broadcasting changes implemented by MLB in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the SportsNet LA team will cover both home and road games from Dodger Stadium.
Throughout the season SportsNet LA additionally will air its signature “Backstage: Dodgers” documentary series that features behind-the-scenes stories of players, coaches and management. The series premieres Friday, July 24, at 10:30 p.m., and a new episode will debut every week throughout the regular season.
Other original programming will include “Timeless Dodgers,” which highlights memorable games from the franchise’s history. “Dodgers Squeeze Play,” a condensed one-hour format of telecasts enhanced with the sights and sounds from the game, also returns in 2020.
