In celebration of the Tokyo Series, MLB collaborated with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami for an array of exclusive products, which included official Nike Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs jerseys.

As a part of the Murakami x MLB Tokyo Series Collection, limited edition MLB Elite Jerseys were also created, with just under 40 being made. Shohei Ohtani had a chance to meet with Murakami while the Dodgers are in Tokyo, where he received one of the 26 jerseys produced for the collection.

And as a nod to the number Ohtani wears on the field, he received No. 17 of the 26 jerseys that are in existence.

The limited Tokyo Series Collection first dropped more than a week ago at the Complex pop-up in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles.

Items from the apparel collection include Nike t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, and the aforementioned limited edition jerseys. Furthermore the collaboration is also going to include slides by Ohana Hatake, a first-of-its-kind brand led by Murakami.

Other items available in the Murakami Tokyo Series collection also include Topps trading cards, New Era 59FIFTY knits and adjustable caps, Rawlings baseballs and gloves, Victus bats, totes, keychains and more.

During their meeting, Ohtani and Murakami also had a chance to sign four limited edition trading cards as part of another collaboration with Topps. Each card features its own unique artwork of Ohtani, as well as signatures from Murakami and the Dodgers’ superstar.

Two of the four cards are now in the possession of Murakami and Ohtani, and the remaining two are still out in the world to be claimed by a lucky fan who buys a card pack from Topps.

Shohei Ohtani ‘very honored’ to join Fortnite Icon Series

It’s been a busy week full of collaborations for Ohtani, who also found his way into the popular online multiplayer game Fortnite on Monday.

Ohtani was chosen as the first baseball player to join the Fortnite Icon Series, joining a select group of athletes with their own skins in the game, including names like LeBron James and Patrick Mahomes.
