The Los Angeles Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles faced off in a series rubber match on Father’s Day after splitting the first two games. For the Dodgers, it also concluded their final homestand of June as they head on the road to Minnesota now.
But the Dodgers may as well have already been on the road, as the Orioles blew them out to lose the series. The Orioles have also scored multiple runs in 23 consecutive games against the Dodgers.
Although the air cleared up by gametime, Dodger Stadium was covered in smoke from the Boyle Heights fire during pregame workouts. It didn’t have any impact on the game, although the air quality index was 101, which is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Emmet Sheehan & bullpen struggle
Emmet Sheehan’s day started poorly, and it ended with him only recording one out in the fourth inning.
Sheehan started the game by allowing a single, double, walk and single to put the Orioles up 1-0 with the bases loaded before he even recorded an out. Colton Cowser followed with a one-out single to make it a 2-0 game before Sheehan was able to escape the inning.
After the Dodgers answered with a run in the first, Taylor Ward homered in the second inning to get the run right back. Cowser also hit a solo shot in the third inning to put the Orioles up 4-1.
In the fourth inning, Sheehan walked two hitters and recorded just one out before he came out of the game. Jack Dreyer entered and issued a two-out walk before giving up a single to Cowser that scored two runs.
Both of those were charged to Sheehan, who allowed six runs on eight hits over 3.1 innings while striking out four and walking three.
Jonathan Hernández was on the mound in the seventh for his second inning of work, but allowed back-to-back doubles that extended the Orioles’ lead to 7-1. Gunnar Henderson was then intentionally walked before Pete Alonso slugged a three-run homer to give the Orioles their 10th run.
The Orioles scored another two when Chayce McDermott allowed a two-run homer to Blaze Alexander in the eighth inning after a triple from Leody Taveras.
Miguel Rojas pitched a perfect ninth inning on seven pitches.
Dodgers offense checks out early
The Dodgers only scored one run, which came on a first inning, two-out single from Max Muncy after Shohei Ohtani took a leadoff walk and Freddie Freeman singled him into scoring position.
Outside of that, the Dodgers had minimal chances to score. They went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven runners on base. Orioles’ starter Brandon Young pitched five innings, allowing the lone run on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
The Orioles bullpen then combined to throw four no-hit and shutout innings.
