The Los Angeles Dodgers’ long winning streak over the Cincinnati Reds finally ended on Wednesday in a game where nearly nothing went right for the Boys in Blue.
Entering this game, the Dodgers had won eight consecutive games against the Reds in the regular season and 10 straight when including the postseason, dating back to Aug. 25, 2025. The Dodgers took all three games from the Reds last week at Dodger Stadium, and followed by winning the first two games of this series.
The Dodgers already clinched their ticket to the postseason, but remain just shy of clinching the National League West division title. Their magic number still sits at one, but they can still clinch on Wednesday with a loss from the San Diego Padres.

Blake Snell exits with injury
Blake Snell made the start for the Dodgers, but he threw just 19 pitches and allowed one hit while collecting one strikeout in the first inning.
Blake Treinen began warming up during the top of the second and Snell was seen heading into the clubhouse with Dodgers head trainer Thomas Albert. The team announced Snell’s early exit was due to left groin tightness.
After Snell exited the game, nearly everything went downhill.
Dodgers offense fails to capitalize
The Dodgers were unable to generate much offense and failed in their numerous opportunities to either take the lead, tie the game, or pull the game closer. As a group, they went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left 12 runners on base.
The Dodgers did take eight walks, which makes it all the more frustrating they were unable to score more than two runs in a game they had some many gifts.
Only Will Smith and Mookie Betts had multiple hits, as they accounted for five of the Dodgers’ seven total hits. But it was actually the Dodgers who took the first lead, as produced by the only those two hitters.
In the third inning, Betts hit a one-out single and Smith doubled him home to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead. They were only able to score one more run when Tommy Edman grounded out with the bases loaded in the sixth inning, which put the Dodgers down by one run in a 3-2 game.
Dodgers bullpen eats innings, but allows multiple runs
The Dodgers used six different pitchers after Snell left the game, going in order of Blake Treinen, Seth Halvorsen, Bobby Miller, Alex Vesia, Jack Dreyer and Kris Bubic.
Halvorsen gave up the lead in the third inning when he allowed a two-run homer to Elly De La Cruz. The Reds never looked back from that point.
Miller allowed a solo home run in the fifth inning, and then struggled in the sixth. He allowed a leadoff single and hit a batter before exiting.
Vesia quickly gave up a bloop single to give the Reds a 4-2 lead before getting out of the inning. The run was charged to Miller, who allowed two runs over 2.1 innings.
When Dreyer took over in the seventh, the Reds got to him as well. He gave up a leadoff double and later allowed an RBI single. Another single in the inning ended up giving the Reds their sixth run.
Bubic made his Dodgers debut after being activated earlier in the day. He worked a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.
