Recap: Dodgers Beat Braves To Match Best Undefeated Start In Los Angeles Franchise History

The Los Angeles Dodgers were without Freddie Freeman because he aggravated his surgically-repaired right ankle, and the Atlanta Braves didn’t have Jurickson Profar due to a PED suspension, but Monday’s game had already lost some luster due to the team’s respective records.

The Dodgers unsurprisingly remained undefeated with a 6-1 win over the Braves. They were powered by a two-run home run from Teoscar Hernández and more contributions by Michael Conforto and Tommy Edman.

Hernández’s two-run homer in the first inning gave the Dodgers an early lead, which Conforto added onto with an RBI double in the third inning. Edman added a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded and Will Smith hit an RBI single in the fifth inning.

Kiké Hernández further broke the game open in the sixth with a solo home run.

Tyler Glasnow had a no-hitter until allowing a one-out single to Jarred Kelenic in the fifth inning. That’s not to say the Braves didn’t have their chances, however, as Glasnow walked three batters through the first four innings.

Michael Harris II provided Atlanta with a second hit in the fifth inning, but Glasnow stranded both runners by collecting his eighth strikeout of the night.

That marked the end for Glasnow, who had an effective curveball and threw 79 pitches in his 2025 debut.

Tanner Scott’s velocity remained down and he surrendered a leadoff home run to Harris in the eighth, which snapped the Braves’ scoreless drought at 29 innings. Scott did not allow a homer to a left-handed hitter at all during the 2024 season.

Best Dodgers undefeated starts

The Dodgers are now 6-0, which is tied with the 1981 team for best undefeated start in Los Angeles franchise history. The 1981 Dodgers went on to win the World Series.

Next on the list of undefeated starts in Dodgers franchise history are the 1940 team opening the year by winning nine games in a row, and the 1955 Brooklyn club starting 10-0 en route to winning a World Series.

Moreover, the 2025 Dodgers are the fourth defending MLB champion to start a season 5-0 or better, having joined the 1933 New York Yankees (7-0), 1934 New York Giants (5-0) and 1985 Detroit Tigers (6-0).
