The Los Angeles Dodgers received home runs from Mookie Betts, Chris Taylor and Gavin Lux another to pull away for a 9-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. It marked a second consecutive win for the Dodgers and sixth in their past seven games.
Betts got the Dodgers going early with his second leadoff home run and fifth overall this season. L.A. went quiet from there despite having at least one runner reach in the second, third and fourth innings.
Included in that stretch was loading the bases in the third. Matt Beaty, who entered the night a career .500 hitter with the bases full, was unable to break the 1-1 tie.
Taylor managed to do so in the fifth inning with a two-run home run to right-center field. The homer was Taylor’s first since April 25, and it came off Diamondbacks starter Corbin Martin, who somewhat surprisingly was allowed to face the top of the Dodgers’ lineup for a third time.
The Dodgers broke the game open in the seventh behind a grand slam by Lux — the first of his career.
Julio Urias did not squander a second lead as he retired 13 in a row before allowing a leadoff single to Eduardo Escobar in the seventh inning. Up to that point Urias had matched the Diamondbacks’ hit total at one with his own single in the bottom of the sixth.
He then allowed a second base hit in the inning, which marked the end of his night. Despite falling one out short of seven innings, it was a sixth time in nine starts this season that Urias went at least six.
With the Dodgers comfortably ahead, David Price entered in the eighth and worked a clean inning on seven pitches in his first appearance since coming off the 10-day injured list.

The Dodgers placed Garrett Cleavinger on the IL due to left forearm inflammation and recalled Alex Vesia, who set the Diamondbacks down in order in the ninth inning to finish out the win.
