Propelled by the bat of Max Muncy, the Los Angeles Dodgers successfully redeemed themselves with a win over the crosstown rival Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday at Dodger Stadium.

With the victory, the Dodgers evened up the season series with the Angels to two wins apiece. The club now sends Alex Wood to the mound for his team-leading 19th start of the season.

In his last start against the Angels, Wood allowed five hits and three runs in six innings of work. He struck out four batters compared to three walks (one intentional) while additionally yielding a solo home run to Albert Pujols, who his now on the disabled list.

Wood enters with a 5-5 record to go along with 3.88 ERA, 3.51 FIP and 1.15 WHIP in 99.2 innings pitched this season, having accumulated 88 strikeouts to 18 walks.

The Angels counter with fellow left-hander Andrew Heaney, who looks for similar results in his start against the Dodgers on July 8. The 27-year-old logged seven innings of three-run ball while striking out 10 batters for the second consecutive outing.

The impressive display improved Heaney’s numbers across the board this season. In 16 starts, he has compiled a 3.88 ERA, 3.79 FIP and 1.17 WHIP over 96 innings pitched with 96 strikeouts to 29 walks.

Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner is out of the starting lineup for the third consecutive game as he battles his way back from an adductor injury. Turner is considered day-to-day and isn’t expected to start again until after the All-Star Break.

Muncy, who accounted for two of the Dodgers’ three RBI on Friday, slots in at the hot corner in Turner’s absence. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is optimistic that Turner will still be available for pinch-hit opportunities.
