New Dodgers City Connect Pants For 2023 Season

During the 2021 season, the Los Angeles Dodgers were among the inaugural seven teams selected by Nike to take part in the City Connect series, which outfitted the team in an all-blue look for the first time in franchise history.

The uniform featured a new cap design with “Los Dodgers” in cursive rather than having the team’s interlocking “LA” trademark logo to match “Los Dodgers” written across the chest of their jersey.

But during the 2022 season, the Dodgers City Connect uniform included a change to the cap, putting their traditional logo back on the front, however with a black lid. The “Los Dodgers” text was moved to the side of the hat.

This year, the Dodgers have once again made another change, replacing the blue pants with a pair of white pants that also feature a blue stripe running down the sides.

The blue pants were unpopular among fans, and many were pleased to see the updated look for 2023. During the offseason, Max Muncy said the Dodgers would try wearing white pants moving forward because the players didn’t really like the look of the blue pants either.

The addition of the blue stripe makes the uniforms a little more unique from their traditional Spring Training look, which features a blue jersey with white or gray pants.

Overall, it’s a good look for the Dodgers to mix into their rotation, and perhaps it’s something they can do for every Sunday home games, when most teams use an alternate uniform.

The updated uniform made its debut on Sunday, April 16, against Chicago Cubs with Julio Urías on the mound. The Dodgers lost the game, 3-2.

Dodgers City Connect design

The City Connect line of uniforms is an ongoing process with new teams added to the mix each season. Nike worked with each team to create their uniforms for the City Connect series, which is meant to represent the fanbase and city.

“The Dodger uniform is an iconic part of the franchise’s identity. While our traditional look has and will always be worn by the franchise-great players, the City Connect program offered us the opportunity to recognize the impact and importance of our multicultural fanbase,” Dodgers executive vice president and chief marketing officer Lon Rosen said in a statement when the jersey was unveiled.

“We’re excited to debut these City Connect uniforms on the field and know our fans will enjoy seeing ‘Los Dodgers’ on the uniforms as well as our new murals, which bring Los Angeles’ street art culture to Dodger Stadium.”
