Mookie Betts Remains Committed To Avoiding Haunted Hotel In Milwaukee For Dodgers’ Road Trip

After a much needed three-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend, the Los Angeles Dodgers hit the road for seven games away from Dodger Stadium. Beginning with a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, the Pfister Hotel has been chosen as the team hotel for their stay in Wisconsin.

A long-time choice of many MLB teams visiting Milwaukee, the luxury four-star hotel might be harboring a dark history as it is said to be haunted. According to some testimonials from various Major Leaguers such as Carlos Gomez, Adrian Beltré and Ji-Man Choi, there are some supernatural forces at play in the hotel.

For a second year in a row, Mookie Betts is not joining his Dodgers teammates for their stay at the Pfister Hotel and instead is at a local Airbnb, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the L.A. Times:

“You don’t want to mess with them,” Betts said. “I’m staying at an [apparition-free] Airbnb again. That part is not gonna change.”

Betts previously stated that he doesn’t necessarily believe in ghosts, but decided to play it safe and let his teammates deal with any potential hijinks.

It is a bit of unfortunate timing for Betts as he was activated off the 10-day injured list on Monday just in time for the Dodgers’ trip to Milwaukee. Should the series have been scheduled a week or so earlier, Betts could have avoided the whole affair all together.

On the other hand, it happens to be very fortunate timing for the Dodgers who have seen their lead in the National League West slowly dwindle with the improved play of the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres. But even with that, the Dodgers are on a four-game winning streak that has propelled them into a tie for the best record in baseball.

Mookie Betts boosts Dodgers lineup

In total, Betts ended up missing almost two months due to a fractured left hand. During that time, the Dodgers offense often sputtered without him, as Betts was hitting .304/.405/.488 with 10 home runs and 42 RBI at the time of his injury.

He had an immediate impact upon returning to the lineup in the series opener against the Brewers, with a home run and three RBI in the Dodgers’ 5-2 victory.
