Days of growing speculation gave way to the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox reportedly agreeing on a Mookie Betts trade that also involved David Price and a third team in the Minnesota Twins.

In the deal the Dodgers are receiving Betts, Price and cash considerations, while sending Kenta Maeda to the Twins, who then are trading Brusdar Graterol to the Red Sox. The Dodgers additionally are sending Alex Verdugo to Boston.

President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman has been lauded for completing the blockbuster, though a full day passed without the trade being made official. Late Wednesday night that was explained to be due to the Red Sox having concern over Graterol’s medical records.

Despite the bump in the road, all three teams anticipate the trade still being completed, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan:

The blockbuster three-way trade that would send star outfielder Mookie Betts and starter David Price to the Los Angeles Dodgers has been held up due to questions regarding the health of one player involved in the deal, though officials with the teams remain confident it will be completed, sources familiar with the situation tell ESPN.

While there is confidence of still moving forward, how the teams will accomplish as much is unclear. The Red Sox could ask the Twins for an additional player, or the Dodgers may be inclined to appease Boston themselves as they have the most to gain — and lose — in the trade.

Along with implications to acquire Betts and Price, the Dodgers have a second trade with the L.A. Angels that remains on hold. In that deal L.A. reportedly will send Joc Pederson, Ross Stripling and prospect Andy Pages to Anaheim in exchange for Luis Rengifo and one or two Minor League players.
