The Los Angeles Dodgers looked to be the juggernaut most predicted them to be this season by getting off to a 13-2 start, but a rash of injuries set in and the team struggled as their depth wilted away.

They began to find their footing but endured another rough stretch that endured getting swept by the San Diego Padres and no-hit by the Chicago Cubs. However the slide stopped there as the Dodgers responded with a current nine-game winning streak that is their longest stretch of the season.

“It’s a good start for us,” said Max Muncy of the Dodgers starting their road trip with a series sweep of the Nationals. “We’ve still got four more games on this road trip and it’s going to be difficult, but we’re finally getting back to ourselves.

“We’re taking it one pitch at a time, we’re staying within ourselves and not trying to do too much. As long as we can keep doing that, we’re going to keep going out there and having good results. I trust us, I trust our guys. It’s just one of those things where we’re finally getting back to ourselves and starting to click a little bit.”

Muncy recently opined the Dodgers had yet to reach their full potential this season but that they were nearing do so. “It’s just us getting back to our game,” he said.

“We’re not worried about what’s going on with other games, we’re not worried about the night before. We’re only focused on the game at hand. As long as we keep doing that we’re going to keep putting up good results. I feel good about that.”

Muncy excited to DH in All-Star Game

Prior to All-Star Game reserves and pitchers being announced, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he would have Muncy as the designated hitter in his lineup if selected to the game.

“That would be pretty incredible. That would be really, really exciting news,” Muncy said. “I hope that happens, obviously, but that’s kind of out of my hands at this point. I feel like I’ve done all that I can to get my name out there and show the kind of player I am.”
