Triple-A Oklahoma City began their 2024 season with Landon Knack on the mound Friday night but he did not factor into a 1-0 loss to the Tacoma Rainiers in 11 innings.
Knack is among notable Dodgers prospects who were part of the Oklahoma City Baseball Club Opening Day roster for 2024. The group also includes Andy Pages, Hunter Feduccia, Ricky Vanasco, Kody Hoese, Trey Sweeney, Gus Varland and John Rooney.
Nick Frasso (60-day), Matt Gage (seven-day) and River Ryan (seven-day) are currently on the injured list. Sam McWilliams began the 2024 Minor League season on the restricted list.
The Triple-A Oklahoma City roster also features Miguel Vargas, who is looking to bounce back after a subpar 2023. Vargas was initially given the starting job at second base with the Dodgers, but struggled in the role and was ultimately demoted to Oklahoma City to finish out the season.
Vargas admitted he lost confidence while scuffling at the plate upon making his MLB debut. He nevertheless is encouraged for this year and has embraced yet another position change to now play left field.
Feduccia, Feyereisen, Knack, Pages, Vanasco, Varland, Vargas, Frasso and Gage are on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster as well.
Feyereisen, Knack, Vargas, Feduccia and Varland were included on the Dodgers travel roster for South Korea. Knack then made the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster for the Seoul Series.
Travis Barbary is in his fifth season as manager of the Dodgers’ top Minor League affiliate. His Oklahoma City staff consists of bench coach Chris Gutierrez, hitting coach Emmanuel Burriss, pitching coaches Justin De Fratus and Doug Mathis, and performance coaches Paul Fournier and Taylor Miller.
The team is playing as Oklahoma City Baseball Club this year before deciding on a permanent name change after the 2024 season.
