Lakers’ LeBron James Celebrates Dodgers’ Mookie Betts, Cody Bellinger & Clayton Kershaw

It’s no secret the city of Los Angeles has been yearning for a championship, and led by LeBron James, the Lakers were able to get that done earlier this month by defeating the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.

Now the Dodgers are looking to do the same as they overcame a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Atlanta Braves in the National League Championship and earn a spot in the World Series for the third time in the last four years.

The Dodgers haven’t won a World Series since 1988, but this is perhaps their best team ever and manager Dave Roberts declared that this is their year after winning the NLCS. They got off to a good start in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night, earning an 8-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

L.A. is a very tight-knit city, so James was there to support the Dodgers by sending out a handful of tweets cheering them on during Game 1.

1 down! @ClaytonKersh22 was himself(which is AMAZING), @mookiebetts did it all, @Cody_Bellinger went yard again and the whole team was simply damn good! @Dodgers. #OnToTheNextOne

Hahaha!! Leg tap celebrations for him.

The Lakers also won the NBA title in 1988, so it would certainly be something to celebrate if the Dodgers win it all this year, again coming in the same year that the Lakers did so.

Bellinger wants to win the championship in the same year as the Lakers

Cody Bellinger recognized how euphoric it would be for the Dodgers to bring a title to Los Angeles, which would make it the city of champions in professional sports.

“It would obviously be unbelievable,” Bellinger said. “The city of Los Angeles just got one with the Lakers, and to be a part of that would be extremely special. There’s a lot of Dodger fans out in Los Angeles and around the world. We want to bring it home to them.”
