Recap: Mookie Betts & Teoscar Hernández Lead Dodgers Offense In Win Vs. Giants

The Los Angeles Dodgers had an offensive explosion as they defeated the San Francisco Giants with an 8-3 win led by Teoscar Hernández and Mookie Betts.

James Paxton made his Dodgers debut and threw five shutout innings with five strikeouts. However, he struggled with his command, walking five hitters and giving up four hits as he dealt with traffic on the bases throughout the night.

Still, it was a solid outing for the Dodgers No. 5 starter. Big Maple finished off his night by recording a ground out from Wilmer Flores with the bases loaded, displaying some grit to get out of the sticky situation.

The Dodgers started their scoring early, which was once again started by Mookie Betts, who hit a leadoff triple. Shohei Ohtani then grounded out to first base, allowing Betts to score.

The big three once again did their thing in the third inning as Betts worked a walk and Ohtani doubled. That was followed by Freddie Freeman singling through a drawn in infield, putting the Dodgers up by two runs, and Will Smith hit a sacrifice fly to drive Ohtani home.

In the sixth inning, Teoscar Hernández continued to show off his power with an absolute moonshot to left field. His fourth homer of the season was a three-run shot that traveled 431 feet, giving the Dodgers a 6-1 lead.

The seventh inning also proved to be a good one for the Dodgers as Betts and Freeman doubled to increase the score to 7-2. Will Smith then followed with a single that allowed Freeman to score.

The Giants scored their runs against Ryan Brasier and Joe Kelly. Brasier gave up a solo home run to Michael Conforto, and Joe Kelly allowed three singles to give up a run.

Dinelson Lamet makes Dodgers debut

Prior to the game, the Dodgers selected the contract of Dinelson Lamet and designated Nabil Crismatt for assignment. He ended up entering the game in the eighth inning and pitched the final two innings to close out the game, including a perfect first.

He ended up allowing a run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly, thanks in part to a throwing error by Freeman.
