The 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series banner ceremony began in true Hollywood fashion as beloved rapper Ice Cube drove a Dodger Blue Chevy along the warning track.

He had the World Series trophy sitting in the passenger’s seat and delivered it to the display table sitting up the third-base line where the Dodgers had been introduced.

“He’s now a stalwart with the Dodgers,” manager Dave Roberts said after the game. “It’s good to have a person I used to love as a young kid be front and center here. That’s fun.”

Once the Dodgers’ World Series trophy was on display, Kirk Gibson emerged from the dugout for a surprise appearance. Dodgers broadcaster Joe Davis channeled his call from Game 1 of the World Series, announcing, “Gibby, meet Freddie!” for a memorable first pitch.

“I thought the ceremony was fantastic. I thought acknowledging what we accomplished in 2024, the fans were really into it,” Roberts said.

“The presentation with Freddie meet Gibby, and Gibby throwing out the first pitch was fantastic. And yeah, every day is special in its own way. Having these gold hats and uniforms, we nailed it, I thought.”

Gibson and Freeman are seemingly forever tied together in Dodgers postseason history as both hit walk-off home runs in the World Series. Though in Freeman’s case, he delivered the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history.

Dodgers World Series ring ceremony

Next up for the Dodgers is their ring ceremony at Dodger Stadium on Friday night. Fans are asked to arrive early and be in their seats for the World Series ring ceremony that begins at 6:15 p.m. PT.

SportsNet LA is going to carry live coverage of the festivities for those who aren’t able to make it to Dodger Stadium.
