Former Westmont College assistant pitching coach Sean Coyne announced on Twitter that he has accepted a Minor League coaching position with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Coyne joined the Warriors coaching staff in October 2020, and before that, was a groundskeeper for the team.

His other ventures include serving as a pitching floor trainer for Driveline Baseball, the pitching coach for Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego, California, and the pitching instructor and assistant strength coach at B1 Summer Academy.

While it isn’t clear which affiliate he joined, Coyne is the first reported coaching addition to the Dodgers’ Minor League system this offseason.

Unbelievably excited to announce that I’ve accepted a Minor League coaching position with the @Dodgers

Thank you to @CoachRuiz23 @ontibaseball @Berticushill @TCougoule21 and countless others who have helped me develop on this journey💙❤️

As for the Major League side of things, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman previously revealed that he expects the entire coaching staff will return under manager Dave Roberts for the 2022 season.

That includes bench coach Bob Geren, hitting coaches Brant Brown and Robert Van Scoyoc, assistant hitting coach Aaron Bates, pitching coach Mark Prior, assistant pitching coach Connor McGuinness, first base coach Clayton McCullough, third base coach Dino Ebel, bullpen coach Josh Bard and game planning coach Danny Lehmann.

Roberts has one year remaining on a four-year extension signed after the 2018 season, but hopes to discuss a new contract with the Dodgers at some point in the offseason.

Longtime scout Tom Myers left Cubs for role with Dodgers

Coyne’s arrival is on the heels of longtime Chicago Cubs scout Tom Myers leaving the organization to accept a role with the Dodgers.

Myers had served as an area scout supervisor for the Cubs in Southern California since October 2011. His responsibilities included assisting the organization with identifying and evaluating talent in the MLB Draft each year.

Before his decade-long stint with the Cubs, Myers was an assistant coach for the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Santa Clara University.
