Dodgers Want Dodger Stadium Center Field Plaza To Become ‘Real Part Of Our Neighborhood’

As the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to improve Dodger Stadium every season, one recent upgrade is already standing out.

The center field plaza, which was announced as part of the $100 million renovations plan in 2019, has become a fan favorite.

It is the primary entrance into the stadium, which is something they never had before, and it gives more room for fans — and families — to enjoy when taking in a game.

The Dodgers have also already used it for events such as viewing parties when the team is on the road, but president and CEO Stan Kasten explained there is a desire to also start utilizing it more to make it feel like a part of the community, via SportsNet LA:

“We do have more things coming. We do some capital improvements every year, and we will have more next year. We’re already starting to use the plaza when there are non-games going on. We had viewing parties, we’ll be having corporate functions and charity functions through the offseason. It’s going to become a real part of our neighborhood, part of our community, part of our city. We’re very proud of how it turned out.”

The renovations and center field plaza were completed in 2020, but fans were unable to see them until the following season because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Dodger Stadium will also be the center of attention next season as it hosts the All-Star Game for the first time in 42 years.

Kasten is excited for the midsummer classic to come back to L.A. and they have more things planned which they don’t want to reveal yet.

Dodgers hosting Holiday Festival in center field plaza

After an inaugural Los Angeles Dodgers Holiday Festival at Dodger Stadium last year, the immersive event has returned this winter. Whereas fans were limited to a drive-through experience for the first celebration, the renovated center field plaza now is the backdrop.

The 2021 Dodgers Holiday Festival features an open-air ice skating rink in the outfield and Northern Lights display, among other interactive areas.

The Holiday Festival is open from 5-10 p.m. PT on weekdays, and 3-10 p.m. on weekends through December 31, 2021 (select dates excluded). Admission tickets start at $16.
