After the Los Angeles Dodgers lost an ugly 5-0 game to the San Francisco Giants, they are looking to come out with a series win with Clayton Kershaw on the mound going against Alex Cobb in the finale at Oracle Park.

After hitting two home runs in the series off, Max Muncy got a scheduled off day, with Chris Taylor playing third base on Tuesday night. Taylor struck out in all three of his at-bats and was then pinch-hit for by David Peralta late in the game.

Taylor is now 3-for-31 with 14 strikeouts and two walks this season, and is on the bench Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Kershaw takes the mound with a 1-1 record in his third start of the season. He has a 3.75 ERA and is coming off a tough start at Chase Field, where he gave up four earned runs in six innings, including back-to-back home runs.

The 16-year veteran brings a career 2.01 ERA against the Giants and 24-15 record. Kershaw has faced the Giants more than any other team in his career, with Wednesday being his 55th start against the Dodgers’ archrival.

In 29 career games (27 starts) at Oracle Park, Kershaw is 14-6 with a 1.60 ERA and 0.84 WHIP, and held opponents to a .189/.224/.265 batting line.

Cobb is having a good start to his 2023 season, bringing a 2.53 ERA despite having a winless record. Cobb is coming off a quality start against the Kansas City Royals where he pitched seven innings with only two earned runs and six strikeouts, but he nonetheless was saddled with a loss.

Cobb has a career 4.98 ERA in four outings against the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are 6-6 to start the 2023 season despite a pythagorean projected record of 8-4. This is mostly due to the boom-or-bust nature of the lineup which saw the Dodgers score nine runs in the first game of the series and
zero in the next.

Overall this season, the Dodgers have scored 69 runs and allowed 50.
