Dodgers Trade Rumors: Looking For ‘Impact’ Pitcher

The Los Angeles Dodgers starting rotation has been a strength this season, but multiple injuries to the group could force the team to look for some outside reinforcements.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw are among the notable starters on the 15-day injured list, leaving the Dodgers thin on impact arms at the moment.

While the expectation is that the aforementioned names on the IL will return this season, the team could benefit from adding another frontline pitcher to their rotation.

According to Juan Toribio of MLB.com, the Dodgers are hoping to acquire another top-tier arm before the July 30 trade deadline:

Given some of the concerns from the starting rotation, particularly recently, the Dodgers are expected to be involved in the starting-pitching market before the July 30 Trade Deadline. Los Angeles will be looking for a pitcher that can make an impact in October.

As it currently stands, the only locks for a potential Dodgers postseason rotation are Tyler Glasnow and Gavin Stone. Yamamoto would certainly join the mix as well if he is able to return, but that remains up in the air.

The final two, or potentially three, rotation spots are less certain due to a combination of injuries and underperformance. James Paxton has pitched well at times this season, but his peripherals suggest some regression is coming.

Furthermore, Bobby Miller has struggled after a promising rookie season, and it wouldn’t be fair to count on Kershaw or Dustin May coming back in the second half and immediately returning to form.

Thus, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the Dodgers are exploring the possibility of adding another impact pitcher to their rotation. However, there aren’t many options available this year.

White Sox rejected Dodgers’ offer for Garrett Crochet

Garrett Crochet is easily the top starting pitcher on the trade market, and the Dodgers reportedly have interest in him, as well as several other Chicago White Sox players.

A recent report suggested that the Dodgers made an offer for Crochet, but it was quickly turned down by the White Sox. Chicago is seeking a haul for the left-hander, who won’t become a free agent until after the 2026 season.
