The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Will Klein from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned Jack Little prior to their series opener against the Washington Nationals.
Little heads back to the Minors one day after joining the team and making his MLB debut. The right-hander pitched two innings and inadvertently started a benches-clearing incident due to hitting Fernando Tatis Jr.
Little allowed two runs during his appearance. He became the fifth Dodgers rookie to wear an MLB debut jersey patch this season through the partnership between MLB, the Players Association (MLBPA), Fanatics Collectibles and Topps.
The program, which began in 2023, has players who make their MLB debut wear a commemorative jersey patch on their sleeve. It is then authenticated for use in subsequent Topps products.
Little took the place of Emmet Sheehan on the roster, but now finds himself as the odd man out due to the Dodgers needing to supplement their bullpen with a fresh arm.
Will Klein returns to Dodgers
Klein is back with the Dodgers for a second time since being acquired in a trade with the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Joe Jacques. However, his first stint lasted just one day and Klein didn’t appear in the Dodgers’ extra-innings loss to the New York Mets before getting optioned in favor of José Ureña.
Klein made his MLB debut in 2024 and allowed a combined nine runs in 7.1 innings between the Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics. In 22 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma this season, he was 2-0 with a 7.17 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 21.1 innings.
While with the Comets, Klein has gone 0-2 with a 5.06 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in six appearances.
