Along with activating Yasiel Puig off the 10-day disabled and optioning Alex Verdugo to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move, the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday also recalled Scott Alexander and Brock Stewart.

They take the place of Yimi Garcia, who was optioned to Oklahoma City, and Tony Cingrani who was placed on the 10-day DL due to left shoulder inflammation. Cingrani previously battled a dead arm during a relief appearance against the San Francisco Giants.

Cingrani last appeared in Tuesday’s series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks, tossing a scoreless inning. In 18 games this season he’s 0-2 with a 5.79 ERA, 2.94 FIP and 1.29 WHIP, with 22 strikeouts against four walks in 14 innings pitched.

Garcia went 0-1 with an 8.10 ERA in four games for the Dodgers. He also appeared against the Diamondbacks, and was responsible for allowing a game-winning home run to Daniel Descalso in the 12th inning.

Alexander returns after being demoted due to persisting struggles. He went 1-0 but pitched to a 6.35 ERA in 11 games for the Dodgers prior to getting optioned. Alexander was 1-0 with five strikeouts over four shutout innings for Oklahoma City.

Stewart joins the Dodgers for a third time this season, and is able to be recalled despite being optioned on Tuesday by virtue of replacing an injured player on the active roster.

Stewart is allowed one run in 2.2 innings over two relief appearances for the Dodgers this season. He’s 1-0 with a 2.41 ERA in four starts with Oklahoma City.
