Dodgers Opening Day Roster: Landon Knack Recalled From Triple-A Oklahoma City

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Landon Knack from Triple-A Oklahoma City to be included on their Opening Day roster for the Seoul Series.

His opportunity was created in part by the Dodgers bullpen being without Brusdar Graterol (right shoulder inflammation) and Blake Treinen (bruised lung). Emmet Sheehan may have been a candidate to fill a relief role for the two games, but he was placed on the 15-day injured list as well because of right forearm inflammation.

Knack had previously been optioned to Minor League camp during Spring Training as part of early roster cuts but was included on the Dodgers travel party for South Korea. Knack did not appear in either of the two exhibition games at Gocheok Sky Dome.

Thus Knack hasn’t pitched in some semblance of a Major League game since Feb. 29. The right-hander went 1-0 and allowed two runs while collecting seven strikeouts over four innings across two games (one start) this spring. Both runs came in the relief appearance against the Cincinnati Reds at the end of February.

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman recently told DodgerBlue.com he anticipates Knack making his MLB debut during the 2024 season. Knack was around Friedman and more players in January as part of the Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour.

While spending time with Double-A Tulsa and Oklahoma City last year, Knack went a combined 5-1 with a 2.21 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 22 starts.

The 26-year-old was included on MLB Pipeline’s ranking of the top 30 Dodgers prospects for this season at No. 14.

The Dodgers selected Knack in the second round of the 2020 MLB Draft.
