Dodgers Spring Training Roster Cuts: River Ryan, Andy Pages, Landon Knack, & 9 More Sent To Minor League Camp

The first round of Los Angeles Dodgers Spring Training roster cuts saw Andy Pages, Landon Knack and Diego Cartaya among 12 players sent to Minor League camp after their win against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.

Ricky Vanasco, Hunter Feduccia and Nick Frasso were optioned as well. Meanwhile, Stephen Gonsalves, Jesse Hahn, Michael Petersen, Eduardo Salazar and Travis Swaggerty, all of whom are not on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, were re-assigned to Minor League camp.

Although the aforementioned are no longer in big league camp with the Dodgers and seemingly ruled out from being considered for their Opening Day roster, they remain eligible to play in Cactus League games.

The Dodgers have their first — and only — off day of Spring Training on Monday before their schedule resumes Tuesday. The Dodgers’ final Cactus League game is Wednesday, March 13.

Knack is 1-0 and has allowed two runs while collecting seven strikeouts over four innings pitched across two games (one start) this spring. Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman recently told DodgerBlue.com he anticipates Knack making his MLB debut during the 2024 season.

Cartaya has yet to appear in a Spring Training game due to nagging back trouble that affected him last year.

Feduccia has struggled in his eight games, managing just one hit and one RBI but drawing three walks.

Pages has been impressive and garnered praise from Dodgers manager Dave Roberts but faced an uphill battle to make any sort of push for the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster that largely appears set.

Vanasco has allowed just one hit over three scoreless innings in three relief appearances so far this spring. He was a Dodgers Minor League free agent this past offseason before getting re-signed to a Major League deal that added the right-hander to their 40-man roster.

Frasso also hasn’t pitched because of injury, and despite some hope he would return from right shoulder surgery at some point late in the 2024 Minor League season, a hip operation may prevent that.

Gonsalves pitched in Sunday’s win against the Rockies, and overall this spring has allowed two runs in three innings across four appearances.

Hahn made his Dodgers Spring Training debut on Saturday with two strikeouts in a scoreless inning against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Petersen has pitched 1.2 innings in two games for the Dodgers thus far.

Salazar made a scoreless appearance on Feb. 22 but allowed one run in two ensuing games.

Swaggerty is batting .231/.267/.231 with three RBI in 10 games.

River Ryan among Dodgers roster cuts

Following their initial round of roster cuts, the Dodgers also re-assigned River Ryan to Minor League camp, bringing their number of players on the roster down to 50 and their total cuts on Sunday to 12. The number of non-roster invitees still in big league camp with the Dodgers is 16 (seven pitchers; nine position players).

Ryan has not pitched in Spring Training due to shoulder fatigue that the Dodgers have been managing cautiously. He was also ruled out from pitching in a Cactus League game and will miss the start of the Minor League season.
