For one family member to reach the Majors is a tremendous accomplishment. Having two playing professionally, simultaneously no less, is remarkable. But such is the case with Kyle Seager of the Seattle Mariners and his younger brother, Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager.

And there’s a third Seager brother — Justin — who is currently in the Mariners organization. Kyle, an All-Star and steady player in his own right, often takes a backseat to Corey. Kyle is the latest subject of MLB Networks’ “Play Ball” series, and among the topics discussed was growing up with Corey.

“He got me good one time when we were younger,” Kyle said. “We were actually at one of Justin’s games and me and Corey were playing in the outfield just throwing or something like that.

“I think Justin was hitting and I turned to look, and [Corey] just drilled me right in the side of the head. Knocked me out, I was done. He threw pretty hard back then too, so he’s always been pretty good.”

No matter the sport, the Seager brothers constantly engaged in typically-friendly competition. Kyle guarded Golden State Warriors All-Star point guard Stephen Curry during a high school basketball tournament.

While Corey may hold the ultimate edge on baseball diamond, Kyle believes he has get the upper hand from the charity stripe. “I’m winning the shooting contest, I’m winning that one,” Kyle said.

“I’m not gonna win the dunk contest though. … Probably the only one who could dunk is Corey.”

The sixth episode this season of MLB Network’s “Play Ball” airs Saturday, May 13, at 7:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. PT.

The weekly series features MLB stars reminiscing about reaching the Majors, providing advice to kids trying to get better at the game, and sharing tips in one-on-one demonstrations with MLB Network analysts.
