Leaving the Dodger Stadium parking lot can prove to be a difficult proposition for a game that draws high attendance, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to alleviate some frustration by launching an Extra Innings Lounge on the Top Deck.
Beginning with Friday’s series opener against the San Francisco Giants and throughout the six-game homestand, the last of the regular season, the Lounge will be open from the seventh inning until one hour after the final out is recorded in each of the six games.
Beer, wine, soft drinks and coffee will be available for purchase. The team has not specified if the lounge will be open during potential postseason home games; tickets to which sold out on the first day they were made available.
The Lounge is located just outside the stadium gates on the Top Deck, and can be accessed through either the Top Deck seating area or by walking up the stairs from the Reserve Level. In addition to easy access to the Top of the Park Team Store, the Top Deck offers a tremendous view of the downtown Los Angeles skyline.
One of the newer additions is the Intercontinental Hotel, which is the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. Also available during the homestand are speciality food and drink items.
Entering play Friday night, the Dodgers are an MLB-best 52-23 at home. What’s more, they’re the only team in the Majors to have at least 50 home wins this season.
The Dodgers also became the first team surpass three million in home attendance. This year is the a sixth consecutive season in which the Dodgers have reached that mark. During the stretch they’ve led the Majors in home attendance in all but one year (2012).
