The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled infielder Chris Taylor prior to Friday’s game against the Colorado Rockies. He was the last remaining player on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster who had yet to join the club this month.
Taylor hit .368/.438/.544 with six doubles, two triples and eight RBI over 15 regular-season games with Oklahoma City. He went 5-for-32 with one double, three RBI and nine walks in nine postseason games.
The 26-year-old logged time at third base and shortstop for OKC. Thus far with the Dodgers, he played second base (seven games; five starts), third base (seven; two) and shortstop (five; four).
Taylor made his Dodgers debut in late June, and remained with the club into August. Los Angeles optioned him to Oklahoma City on Aug. 7 when Rob Segedin was called up for his Major League debut, but Taylor returned two days later to replace an injured Scott Van Slyke.
Taylor hit .218/.271/.382 with two doubles, two triples, one home run and seven RBI in 29 games (12 starts) with the Dodgers. The home run, Taylor’s only of his career, was a grand slam hit against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
It was part of a prolific performance as he finished a single shy of hitting for the cycle. There was a mini controversy when Taylor attempted to bunt for a single with Los Angeles holding a five-run lead in the eighth inning.
The Dodgers acquired Taylor June 19 in a trade that sent former top pitching prospect Zach Lee to the Seattle Mariners.
