Just before the non-waiver trade deadline this season, the Los Angeles Dodgers completed a deal to acquire Brian Dozier from the Minnesota Twins.

The Dodgers had been linked to Dozier for a while as they were in discussions to acquire him before the 2017 season but instead wound up making a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays for Logan Forsythe.

Ironically enough, Forsythe was part of the package that finally brought Dozier to Los Angeles. Dozier has played well in his first few games with the Dodgers, and recently expressed his excitement to be back in the postseason picture.

The 31-year-old was drafted by the Twins and that was the only organization he knew before being traded to the Dodgers, so he recently took to Instagram to express his gratitude to the Twins organization and fans:

After a crazy few days, I want to take a second and say thank you to everyone in Minnesota and twins fans across the Midwest. I’ve known one organization since 2009 and writing words on here cannot fully express how blessed I’ve been to call Minnesota home and be surrounded daily with unbelievable people within the Twins organization, amazing fans and phenomenal people in and around Minneapolis….y’all are freakin awesome. Cheers to you, twins fans….you will always have special place in my heart.

Dozier’s post on social media mirrors an ad he took out in the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Dozier was named an All-Star once in addition to winning a Gold Glove Award in his time in Minnesota and twice finishing in the top 15 in the American League MVP voting.

In his first seven games with the Dodgers, he is hitting .333/.481/.762 with two home runs and seven RBI. Dozier has provided some stability at second base and could wind up proving key for the Dodgers as they look to win their first World Series in 30 years.
