Dodgers News: Bill Haselman Named Triple-a Okc Manager, Minor League Managers Announced
SHARE

Less than one week after officially naming Dave Roberts’ coaching staff, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced the hires of their Minor League affiliates.

Bill Haselman takes the helm with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Ryan Garko at Double-A Tulsa, Drew Saylor at High-A Rancho Cucamonga, Gil Velazquez at Low-A Great Lakes, Shaun Larkin at Rookie-advanced Ogden and John Shoemaker with the Rookie-level Arizona League Dodgers.

Last season Haselman guided the Quakes to the 2015 California League title. He also managed in the Arizona Fall League this year. Next season will be Haselman’s third with the Dodgers organization and sixth overall as a Minor League manager.

Along with the Quakes, Haselman previously managed the Loons (2014), the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim High-A affiliate Inland Empire (2012-13), and the Texas Rangers’ former High-A affiliate in Bakersfield (2010).

Garko served as an assistant coach at Stanford University, his alma mater, in 2014. He spent six seasons in the Majors playing for the Cleveland Indians (2005-09), San Francisco Giants (2009) and Rangers (2010).

Saylor joins the Dodgers after spending the past four years in the Colorado Rockies organization. The 31 year old managed Single-A Tri-City in 2013 and 2014, with club going 67-85 during his tenure.

Prior to that, Saylor worked as hitting coach for High-A Modesto last season and High-A Grand Junction in 2012. Next season will be Velazquez’s first as manager.

He made his coaching debut last season as the fourth coach for the AZL Dodgers. Velasquez spent five seasons in the Majors, playing for the Boston Red Sox (2008-09), Angels (2011) and Miami Marlins (2012-13).

Larkin made his managerial debut in 2015 with Single-A Lake County, an Indians affiliate. He also has experience as a hitting coach other Cleveland Minor League affiliates, and stints as an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge, Orange Coast College and Newport Harbor High School.

Shoemaker, recipient of the 2015 Mike Coolbaugh Award, transitions from managing Ogden to leading the AZL Dodgers. He was also named the Dodgers’ “Captain” of Player Development last season.

Shoemaker enters his 40th season with the Dodgers organization and 23rd as a Minor League manager. He was selected by the Dodgers in the 35th round of the 1977 draft and has remained with the organization since.
