Axford appeared in 45 games (one start) for the Blue Jays this season, going 4-1 with a 4.41 ERA, 4.02 FIP and 1.26 WHIP while holding opponents to a .234 batting average. He’s been especially tough on left-handed batters, who have hit just .147.

During the monty of July, the veteran right-hander went 3-0 with a 3.86 ERA, striking out 16 against four walks across 14 innings pitched over 11 games (one start).

Axford previously pitched in the National League for the Milwaukee Brewers (2009-13), St. Louis Cardinals (2013), Pittsburgh Pirates (2014) and Colorado Rockies (2015).

Copping went a combined 4-0 with three saves, a 2.52 ERA in 35 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City and Double-A Tulsa this season. He was selected by the Dodgers in the 31st round of the 2015 Draft. This season marked his first time reaching the Triple-A level.
