Los Angeles jumped out to a quick start against Roenis Elias in what was a bullpen game for the Mariners. He labored to the tune of 44 pitches and five runs allowed in the first inning.

Elias faced a bases-loaded jam three batters into the game as Brian Dozier led off with a single, Justin Turner followed with a walk, and Manny Machado lined a base hit into center field.

Cody Bellinger pulled a two-run single through the right side of the infield, and Kiké Hernandez’s RBI base hit extended the Dodgers’ lead to 3-0. Yasiel Puig’s broken-bat single plated two more and capped off the five-run inning.

They added to that lead by scoring one run in each of the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Justin Turner was in the middle of it in the fifth and seventh, delivering an RBI single each time. Though, the first was a bit of a luck as Robison Cano failed to make a catch.

Turner then added to his day with a three-run home run off Mariners infielder Austin Romine. Turner finished 4-for-5 with a game-high five RBI and extended his hitting streak to 13 games in the process.

The early run support was more than enough for Clayton Kershaw, who allowed just one run on four his over seven efficient innings. Kershaw collected seven strikeouts against one walk in a second consecutive stellar outing.

The game ended with Zac Rosscup on the mound and the left-hander turning in an immaculate inning. He joined Kenley Jansen (2017) as Dodgers who have recently accomplished the feat.
