Chris Taylor Rumors: Marlins, Phillies & Nationals Among Interested Teams

The Los Angeles Dodgers are facing stiff competition for several of their free agents, including Chris Taylor, whose importance to the team could multiple tenfold if Corey Seager is lured away.

Like Seager, Taylor was extended — and rejected — the qualifying offer from the Dodgers. Being tied to draft pick compensation doesn’t appear to have hindered his market, with reports suggesting Taylor could sign a contract for upwards of five years.

In addition to the Dodgers, the Boston Red Sox, Rangers and San Francisco Giants were among the teams linked to Taylor over recent weeks.

According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Miami Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals have interest in the super utilityman as well:

The 31-year-old saw time at six different positions, batting .254/.344/.438 with 25 doubles, 20 home runs and 73 RBI in 148 regular-season games before going on to hit .351 in the playoffs.

Since being acquired from the Seattle Mariners in 2016, Taylor has batted .264/.341/.458 with 135 doubles, 25 triples, 79 home runs, 299 RBI and 50 stolen bases over parts of six seasons with the Dodgers (657 games).

Taylor suggests interest in re-signing

After the Dodgers were eliminated by the Atlanta Braves in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series, Taylor reflected on his time with the team but couldn’t say for sure where he’d be playing next season.

“It’s been a lot of fun playing with these guys,” he began. “I’ve loved every minute of it. Definitely disappointed, but it’s been a joy to be part of this team.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen. All I can say is I’ve loved every minute I’ve been a Dodger. I have no idea what’s going to happen this offseason, but the last five seasons I’ve been here, it’s been amazing. I’m so thankful I’ve had the opportunity to play for the Dodgers.”

The Dodgers reportedly considered offering an extension to Taylor during the season, but it is unclear if they did end up presenting it to him.
