The Los Angeles Dodgers received some more clarity with who they will match up against in the National League Division Series after the Atlanta Braves defeated the New York Mets in the second game of their doubleheader on Monday.

That locked the Braves into the postseason where they will face the San Diego Padres in the Wild Card Series. The winner from that best-of-three matchup will advance to face the Dodgers in the NLDS.

The NL Wild Card matchups had not been set due to the postponement of the Braves and Mets series last week as both teams were still battling for playoff spots. That required a doubleheader to be played the day after the regular season ended, and one day before the Wild Card round begins.

The Arizona Diamondbacks were still hopeful to reach the playoffs as of Monday afternoon, but they needed the Mets to complete a sweep at Truist Park. The only scenarios for the Diamondbacks to be the final Wild Card team were if the Mets or Braves swept the doubleheader.

New York now travels to face the Milwaukee Brewers in a Wild Card Series that will determine who faces the Philadelphia Phillies in the other NLDS.

The Dodgers earned their postseason spot by finishing with the best record in MLB and clinching the NL West over the Padres. L.A. holds home-field advantage throughout the entire playoffs.

Dodgers change workouts for NLDS

Prior to beginning the NLDS, manager Dave Roberts said the Dodgers now plan to give players the option of taking Tuesday off before beginning full preparations.

In the two years past, the Dodgers began NLDS preparations in earnest after taking just one day off from the regular season. Roberts believes given how the NL West unfolded with a late race this season, the chance for players to initially reset could prove beneficial.
