The Los Angeles Dodgers went into the 2021 season among the World Series favorites and their odds to repeat increased after the team acquired Max Scherzer and Trea Turner at the trade deadline.
L.A. went on to tie a franchise record with 106 wins but had their streak of National League West titles snapped at eight years. The Dodgers survived the Wild Card Game and eliminated the San Francisco Giants in the NL Division Series, though then couldn’t get past the Atlanta Braves in the NL Championship Series.
For Atlanta, it represented their first berth in the World Series since 1999 and a matchup with the Houston Astros.
The Braves continued their magical postseason ride by defeating the Astros in six games, which prompted Kenley Jansen to send a second congratulatory message to fellow Curacao native Ozzie Albies.
Congrats to my brother Ozzie…representing 🇨🇼 in the WS. Go get that ring! pic.twitter.com/C5cLcDUdo8

The Dodgers also posted a message on social media to congratulate the Braves on their World Series win, and Vin Scully commended them as well.
Congratulations to the Atlanta @Braves in winning their first WS in 26 years. It was wonderful to see the team honor the great Henry "Hank" Aaron during the series.

The Braves’ championship is their first since 1995 and fourth in franchise history. They entered the postseason with the fewest regular season wins (88) among teams playing October baseball this year.
Braves extend Dodgers’ streak
Atlanta capturing the title extended the Dodgers’ streak to six years in which they have either been eliminated by the eventual World Series champion or won the championship themselves.
The streak began with the Chicago Cubs in the 2016 NLCS and is one year shy of tying the New York Yankees.
