Dodgers Highlights: Mookie Betts’ Home Run & Kiké Hernández’s Diving Catch From Giants Game

Mookie Betts hit his fifth home run of the season and the bottom of the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup also contributed in a 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers have scored at least five runs in all eight games this season.

Before Betts showed off his power swing once again, he led off the bottom of the first inning with a single, stole second base and came around to score on Freddie Freeman’s single. Although Freeman has lamented his feeling at the plate so far this season, Freeman had his third three-hit game of the year.

After the Giants found some success in a Dodgers bullpen game to take a lead, Betts home run tied it in the bottom of the third.

The Dodgers then took their decided lead in the fourth inning on Gavin Lux’s RBI double and a two-run base hit from Kiké Hernández.

Hernández also contributed in the field by laying out for a diving catch in left field to end the fifth inning.

San Francisco scored two runs in the sixth inning but never drew any closer.

Ryan Brasier pitched a scoreless inning in his second career start. Ryan Yarbrough then handled the bulk of the game, throwing 4.1 innings and allowing four runs.

Alex Vesia, Michael Grove and Evan Phillips combined to keep the Giants scoreless to finish out the win. Phillips was called on for a four-out save after Grove ran into some trouble in his second inning of work.

Dodgers can sweep Giants

With Tuesday’s win, the Dodgers now are in position to complete a sweep of the Giants that would give them a 6-1 record on their homestand.

Tyler Glasnow is making his third Dodgers start and being opposed by Kyle Harrison.
