Spring Training Recap: Michael Conforto Powers Dodgers To 8th Straight Win

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Seattle Mariners, 6-4, in a night game at Peoria Stadium, extending their Spring Training winning streak to eight games, which includes a pair of doubleheader victories.

Michael Conforto powered the Dodgers’ offense with two hits, two runs scored, and three RBI. Both of his hits went for extra bases, starting with a double in the third inning that put the Dodgers up 2-0.

Conforto later scored the team’s third run of the inning when Kiké Hernández singled him home. His second hit of the night came in the fifth inning—a home run, his first of Cactus League play—extending the Dodgers’ lead to 4-0.

The Dodgers tacked on another run in the seventh inning after a small rally. Michael Chavis started things off with a single, and Aaron Bracho pinch-ran for him, eventually coming around to score on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Ryan Ward.

In the ninth inning, the Dodgers loaded the bases and pushed across another run on a fielder’s choice, but that was all they could capitalize on.

Justin Wrobleski started on the mound and delivered a stellar performance, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings with five strikeouts, one walk, and three hits allowed.

Wrobleski ran into trouble in the third inning after giving up a single and a double to start the frame. However, the left-hander bounced back impressively, striking out the next two batters before inducing a popout to escape the jam after issuing a walk to load the bases.

The southpaw has now thrown 8.1 consecutive scoreless innings in Cactus League play this spring as he makes a strong push to join the Dodgers in Tokyo. With multiple injuries affecting their bullpen, he could be in the mix for a spot on the Opening Day roster.

Jack Dreyer continued to impress as well, pitching a scoreless inning with two strikeouts, further strengthening his case for a bullpen role.

Matt Sauer also looked sharp for two innings, striking out four batters while keeping the Mariners off the scoreboard. However, after going out for a third inning of work in the ninth, he surrendered a two-run homer. He later allowed a third run on a double before exiting, and that runner ultimately came around to score as well.

Dodgers remaining Spring Training schedule

The Dodgers have just four Cactus League games left before heading to Japan for the Tokyo Series. Their next matchup is at Camelback Ranch against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday at 12:05 p.m. PT.
