The Los Angeles Dodgers improved to 2-0 in Cactus League play on Sunday afternoon by defeating the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, 13-9, at Camelback Ranch.
The highlight of the day came in the seventh inning when the game was tied. With many of the Dodgers’ top prospects having replaced starters, the club struck for six runs to put the game out of reach.
It did not take long in the inning for the offense to get going as shortstop Omar Estevez led off with a home run. First baseman Matt Beaty then followed with a home run of his own, and center fielder D.J. Peters joined in on the party to give the Dodgers back-to-back-to-back long balls.
Keibert Ruiz had a chance to make it four, which would have been shades of the four-plus-one game the team had against the San Diego Padres in 2006, but he instead drew a walk. Edwin Rios and Daniel Castro both doubled, and Josh Thole hit a sacrifice fly to cap off the big inning.

Peters had a strong day at the plate overall, hitting his first two home runs of the spring.
Earlier in the game, the Dodgers starters also put on a strong showing at the plate, scoring four runs in the first inning for the second consecutive day. Included in that were RBI singles by Russell Martin and Ezequiel Carrera, and a sacrifice fly from Alex Verdugo.
Martin has three hits in his first two games with the Dodgers as he looks to bounce back from a down year in 2018.
Chris Taylor added a fifth run for the Dodgers in the bottom second inning when he launched a double to deep left to score Jake Peter.
