The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Reyes Moronta from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned Michael Grove prior to the opener of the Freeway Series.

Moronta is up with the team for a second time this season, after originally being called up on April 24. He remained with the Dodgers for three weeks, pitching to a 2.25 ERA over seven relief appearances.

Moronta is 1-0 with two saves and a 3.00 ERA over 10 games with Oklahoma City. He last pitched for them on June 10, and gives the Dodgers a fresh arm for their heavily-worked bullpen. L.A. should also be aided by coming out of an off day Monday.

Moronta was among the several players the Dodgers signed to a Minor League contract with a non-roster invite to Spring Training. He allowed three runs on three hits (two home runs) over 3.1 innings pitched across four Cactus League appearances.

Grove heads back to the Minors three days after getting recalled as the corresponding roster move to Walker Buehler going on the 15-day injured list with a strained right flexor tendon. Although normally a starter, Grove’s latest appearance for the Dodgers was out of the bullpen.

Grove made his MLB debut with a start on May 15, then pitched out of the bullpen on June 1. He has a 5.79 ERA and three strikeouts across 4.2 innings pitched over the two games.

The 25-year-old received his first callup from Double-A Tulsa, but now has been optioned to Oklahoma City after every stint with the Dodgers. Grove has yet to record a decision while with OKC and pitched to a 5.40 ERA.

Dodgers waiting on Heaney

With Clayton Kershaw having returned last weekend, the Dodgers are hopeful to soon welcome back Andrew Heaney as well. Heaney is making a rehab start for the Drillers on Tuesday and could then be activated off the IL early next week.
