The Los Angeles Dodgers kept with picking from the collegiate ranks on Day 3 of the 2019 MLB Draft, specifically focusing on left-handed pitchers. Though, their first selection was right-hander Logan Boyer out of San Diego State with the 341st overall pick.

From Rounds 12 through 40, that was followed by the Dodgers drafting left-hander Mitchell Tyranski (Michigan State), left-hander Jacob Cantleberry (Missouri), left-hander Sean Mellen (Northeastern), outfielder Joe Vranesh (St. Mary’s), right-hander Andrew Baker (Chipola College), outfielder Brandon Wulff (Stanford), left-hander Jeff Belge (St. John’s), left-hander Braidyn Fink (Oklahoma) and right-hander Zack Plunkett (Arkansas).

Prep outfielder Trey LaFleur out of J.M. Tate High School(FL) was drafted by the Dodgers in the 21st round, then shortstop Jimmy Titus (Bryant University) in the 22nd round, then right-hander Cyrillo Watson (Illinois), center fielder Chet Allison (Fresno City College), outfielder Jonny Deluca (Oregon), right-hander Mark Mixon (Miami), right-hander Parker Brahms (Sacramento State), Woodstock High school (GA) shortstop Brennan Milone.

Another prep pick came in the form of Rutherford High School (NJ) shortstop Breyln Jones in the 29th round, followed by right-hander Josh Ibarra (Golden West College), Dixie High School (UT) shortstop Kayle Yates, center fielder Danny Sinatro (Washington State), third baseman Julio Carrion (Chipola College), Puerto Rico Baseball Academy left-hander Francisco Martinez.

The Dodgers’ picks continued with center fielder Justin Washington (Savannah State) in the 35th round, right fielder Matthew Kanfer (Pepperdine), Mount Vernon Presbyterian School (GA) center fielder Tres Gonzalez, catcher Tyler Ryan (University of the Pacific), Pantego Christian Academy (TX) left-hander Caden MacDonald and catcher Ty Haselman (UCLA).

The Dodgers made 41 overall selections in the 2019 MLB Draft, picking 20 pitchers (12 right-handers, eight left-handers), 10 outfielders, nine infielders and two catchers. Of the 21 drafted position players, 14 are right-handed hitters, five are left-handed hitters and two are switch-hitters.

Thirty-three were selected from the college ranks, while eight were drafted out of high school.
Three of this year’s draftees have family ties to the Majors.

Bruins catcher Haselman is the son of Bill Haselman, who caught in the Major Leagues for 13 years and is now the Dodgers’ Player Development Manager Coordinator. Sinatro’s father, Matt, played for four teams in his 10-year career, while Jones is the son of former pitcher Bobby Jones.
